The American Sports Builders Association, or ASBA, formerly known as the United States Tennis Court and Track Builders Association is made up of contractors, designers, suppliers and sports turf managers who specialize in the construction of sports facilities. The ASBA has been ‘THE’ authority for sports facility construction guidelines since 1982.

Education is Key!

WHAT?

The ASBA’s main purpose is to educate owners, end users, contractors and designers on the proper design and construction of a sports facility.

HOW?

This is done by interpreting the requirements of the NCAA, the National Federation of High Schools, the U.S. Tennis Association and other guiding organizations in an effort to transition the requirements into construction guidelines to ensure that any outdoor sports facility can be constructed properly when the construction guidelines are adhered to.
The ASBA publishes thorough construction guideline manuals for tennis court, sports field and running track construction, which are updated every two years. They author numerous articles and position papers on various topics each year. Continuing education credit is available for design professionals as well as full and associate members, keeping them current on the newest and latest design and guidelines for sports facility construction.

Certification Process

In addition to regular educational outreach, members and non-members who wish to become certified can go through the certification process. Should the requisite experience and a passing score on the rigorous certification exam be met, one could become certified builders of fields, tracks, and tennis courts. To pass the exam and become Certified by the ASBA is quite and honor and a feat. The certification is valid for 3 years with continuing education being a mandatory part of the requirement to re-certify. You can rest assured knowing that if you have a certified builder on your project, your facility is in good hands.
