Local Public High School Track and Field
Deptford High School partnered with American Athletic Track and Turf to transform its existing running track and athletic facilities. This ambitious project focused on expanding the track from six to eight lanes, installing a state-of-the-art Beynon BSS-300 Sandwich Running Track System, and enhancing the surrounding field event areas. The goal was to create a high-performance athletic complex that supports competitive excellence and meets the evolving needs of student-athletes and the broader school community.
The Challenge
The existing six-lane track at Deptford High School was outdated and no longer met the demands of the school’s growing athletic programs. Limited lane capacity restricted the ability to host larger track meets, while the aging surface compromised safety and performance. Additionally, the field event areas and drainage systems required significant upgrades to enhance functionality and sustainability.
Our Plan
We collaborated with Deptford High School to design an updated athletic complex that would meet the needs of their expanding programs. Our plan focused on transforming the existing six-lane running track into an eight-lane facility, enhancing capacity for both training and competitions. We also incorporated site improvements, including new field event areas, a synthetic turf field, and custom fencing, to create a versatile and durable athletic environment.
Our Work
The execution of the project showcased our expertise in sports construction and attention to detail. We began by expanding the existing track from six to eight lanes, carefully grading and preparing the surface to ensure optimal performance. The Beynon BSS-300 Sandwich Running Track System was installed, featuring a resilient, high-traction surface with custom gold exchange zones that reflect Deptford High School’s spirit and enhance visibility during relay events. For field events, we constructed a new 50 x 100 high jump area, along with additional field event spaces designed for versatility and durability. New chutes were built in both directions to facilitate smooth transitions during competitions.
In addition to track improvements, we installed a synthetic turf field by FieldTurf, providing a durable, multi-use surface suitable for various sports. The project also included the installation of a state-of-the-art underground water storage retention system, designed to manage stormwater efficiently and reduce environmental impact. Finally, custom fencing was added around the facility, enhancing both security and the overall aesthetic appeal of the complex.
