Hub Stine Sports Complex in Plainfield, New Jersey
Local Municipality Tennis and Pickleball Court
Hub Stine Sports Complex partnered with American Athletic Track and Turf to transform its athletic facilities including outdated tennis courts into a state-of-the-art facility designed for both tennis and pickleball. This comprehensive project involved the demolition of existing courts, expansion to accommodate additional courts, and the integration of modern features to enhance playability, durability, and community engagement. It also including revamping their existing running track and athletic facilities.
The Challenge
The tennis courts at Hub Stine Sports Complex were worn and deteriorating, with drainage issues, uneven grading, and outdated markings compromising safety and playability. Growing community demand also called for incorporating pickleball courts. Similarly, the track was outdated, and the natural sod field suffered from poor drainage, uneven terrain, and inadequate irrigation, limiting usability and the facility’s ability to host high-level competitions.
Our Plan
To address these challenges, American Athletic Track and Turf focused on demolishing the old tennis courts to create space for new construction, including four tennis court batteries, a practice wall, and multi-sport striping for pickleball. We also milled, laser-graded, and repaved the asphalt, adding new drainage, fencing, sidewalks, and curbs for durability and aesthetics.
For the track, we carefully graded and prepared the surface before installing the Beynon BSS-300 Sandwich Running Track System, featuring a high-traction, resilient surface with custom exchange zones for enhanced visibility.
Our Work
The execution of the project involved meticulous attention to detail and high-quality materials to ensure superior performance across the entire sports complex. After demolishing the existing courts, we used precise laser grading to create a level playing surface. The asphalt was milled and repaved with carefully applied layers for a strong, stable foundation. Four layers of Nova Acrylic Coatings were applied to enhance durability and provide a vibrant, professional finish. The courts were striped for both tennis and pickleball, including four quads, to maximize versatility. A high-solid 100% acrylic topcoat was used to reduce glare and lower surface temperatures for a comfortable playing experience.
In addition to the courts, we transformed the eight-lane running track, carefully grading and resurfacing it to optimize performance and safety. The Beynon BSS-300 Sandwich Running Track System was installed, offering a high-traction, resilient surface with custom exchange zones that reflect the facility’s colors and enhance visibility during relay events.
To further enhance the complex, we installed new drainage systems to prevent water accumulation, along with updated fencing, sidewalks, and curbs for improved safety and aesthetics. The addition of a dedicated tennis practice wall provided athletes with an extra training resource, solidifying Hub Stine Sports Complex as a top-tier facility for competition and recreation.
