Local Public High School Track and Field and Tennis Courts
Lindenwold High School partnered with American Athletic Track and Turf to undergo a comprehensive athletic facility transformation. The project aimed to revitalize the school’s sports infrastructure, focusing on the installation of a new natural turf field with drainage, a state-of-the-art synthetic turf field, upgraded tennis courts, and enhanced track and field areas. Our goal was to create durable, high-performance athletic spaces that would serve both the student-athletes and the broader community.
The Challenge
Lindenwold High School faced aging sports facilities that no longer met the needs of their athletic programs. The existing tennis courts were deteriorated, the natural turf field suffered from poor drainage, and the track lacked the durability and safety features required for competitive events. Additionally, outdated lighting systems limited evening use, reducing the versatility of the facilities.
Our Plan
To address these challenges, American Athletic Track and Turf developed a comprehensive plan to revitalize the athletic complex. This included installing a new natural turf field with advanced drainage, as well as a synthetic turf field for multi-sport use. We also planned to replace the outdated tennis courts with modern surfaces, and improve track functionality with new D zones. Additionally, a digital scoreboard and LED sports lighting would be added to enhance visibility and energy efficiency for events at all times of day.
We collaborated with Deptford High School to design an updated athletic complex that would meet the needs of their expanding programs. Our plan focused on transforming the existing six-lane running track into an eight-lane facility, enhancing capacity for both training and competitions. We also incorporated site improvements, including new field event areas, a synthetic turf field, and custom fencing, to create a versatile and durable athletic environment.
Our Work
The execution of the project involved meticulous attention to detail and the use of premium materials to ensure long-lasting performance. We installed the Beynon BSS-300 Conversion System with custom colors to reflect Lindenwold High School’s spirit, creating a vibrant and distinctive athletic environment. A paved-in-place polyurethane base mat was laid down to provide superior durability and consistent performance across the track surface. To enhance safety and resilience, we applied a two-component impermeable sealer followed by a two-component polyurethane wear layer embedded with virgin EPDM granules, resulting in a high-traction surface ideal for competitive events. The project also included the installation of state-of-the-art MUSCO LED sports lighting, which offers optimal field illumination and energy efficiency. The tennis courts were completely removed and replaced, significantly improving playability and visual appeal. Additionally, we constructed new D zones tailored to support a wide range of track and field events, ensuring that Lindenwold High School’s athletic facilities met the highest standards for both practice and competition.
