The first step to creating the perfect running track for your high school is to get an expert opinion. Whether it’s an indoor or outdoor track, a properly certified builder will be able to direct you towards the best materials to choose and guide you through the entire process. Following American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) standards, American Athletic Track and Turf’s certified track builders have gone through rigorous training to give high schools the best track-building experience around. Here, we explain the importance of hiring a certified company for track projects.

About the ASBA Certification Process

Much goes into creating the perfect running track for your high school. When you decide it’s time for a new track, rely on a certified track builder who’s been through an excellent training program. ASBA has developed a six-step certification process, which includes:

  1. Submitting the PDF application form
  2. Verifying employment
  3. Downloading the certification handbook
  4. Downloading the job list form and eligibility points spreadsheet
  5. Submitting payment
  6. Scheduling an exam

Trainees must complete the Certified Track Builder (CTB) test, a thorough exam confirming their skills and knowledge. Additionally, the trainee will have completed in-depth, hands-on experience that must be demonstrated as successful before they are eligible to work on your track. Trainees must complete all six steps no less than 30 days before the CTB exam.

The Benefits of Working with ASBA-Certified Builders

An ASBA-certified builder is someone you can trust, and knowing that your builder has gone through the necessary steps for certification is an added comfort in the building process. The breadth of knowledge the certified builders at American Athletic bring to each job results in a host of benefits, including:

They Know the Formula

All ASBA-certified track builders are familiar with the ins and outs of what makes a solid, long-lasting track. Improving upon professional standards in the industry, ASBA designed its program to produce builders with a deep sense of knowledge.  Key factors like surface material, drainage systems, and a proper track base will be considered by American Athletic, contributing to your running track’s longevity and performance.

Familiarity with Logistics

An ASBA-certified builder understands what goes into the bidding process, along with the policies and standards of conduct that go along with construction. Hiring someone familiar with the language of the bidding process gives high schools the added peace of mind in the integrity of the builders and their ability. ASBA even provides resources to ensure their knowledge of conduct and certification processes.
